We seem to notice less what is obvious and apparent.
Probably because we are so disconnected with ourselves that we don’t observe the impact of our feelings on our body. We are unaware of our hidden emotions that manifest and reflect on our body.
Your body communicates with you through feelings and sensations.
You go through immense physical pain and health challenges inspite of taking enough care of your health. You eat well, diet, exercise and do everything possible to live a healthy life.
Yet why is your body in pain? Why do you face health issues?
The answer lies in the fact that we fail to acknowledge and work on emotions.
- The body-mind connect:
We don’t realize the fact that our feelings are impacting our body and the root cause of our pain lies in the emotions that get manifested through our body. Our feelings are on auto pilot mode and that harms us in a big way. It is not an ideal way to deal with our emotions nor our body.
We need to be aware about our feelings, accept them, acknowledge the fact that we cannot ignore them nor can we live a life bereft of emotions.
Probably in this fast-paced life, we habitually ignore and suppress emotions. This is certainly not a healthy way to deal with your emotions.
Taking charge of your feelings is vital for leading a happy life. In pursuit of monetary gains or passion for our career and work, or the ambition to succeed we choose to disrespect our own emotions.
Instead, it is vital to take charge of your feelings. Let me explain how?
Let’s start getting aware about our emotions and feelings. LET US EXPRESS OURSELVES AND KNOW THE BODY AND MIND CONNECT.
We need to be aware about it. We should take hold / charge of our feelings.
- Let us ACCEPT that our physical and emotional health are intertwined.
They are just inseparable though we treat them separately for all practical reasons. This is referred to as the mind-body connect.
Our body impacts our moods, emotions and vice-versa. This leaves a deeper impact on our thoughts and beliefs. Moreover, our emotions are capable of causing immense amount of stress and adversely impact our physical health.
Our feelings, thoughts, attitude and ideas are positively or negatively affected by our biological functioning.
Also, how we take care of our body (exercise, meditate, diet) is impacting our mental state.
Thus, there is a complex relationship between our mind and body.
So, you must have noticed at times when you feel nervous your hand begins to shake and some times you can’t fall asleep at night.
Your brain is not working separately from the body – the body and mind connect exists for real.
Your emotions find expression through your body.
It becomes more apparent to me when I speak to my clients.
This was so true about one of my clients who had swelling on various parts of her body.
When she came to meet me, I realized she had a swelling on her ankles, and knees. She had heel pain, knee pain and Urinary Tract Infection issues. When I spoke to her, she had so much on her mind and she was suppressing her emotions.
- The core issue:
After I began to counsel her, I came to know that she had many emotional issues. She didn’t have a healthy sexual relationship with her husband.
She blamed herself for her father’s death and she carried this burden no matter how much she ignored it.
A young lad pretended to love her with whom she enjoyed sexual relationship, but now he too had stopped communicating with her. She had a problem accepting her challenges and acknowledging her emotions. This adversely impacted her physical health.
The core reason was not being tackled thus, her health issues remained unresolved.
I began to guide and counsel her through therapies, which helped to reach her core issue.
- Wrap it up:
Conclusively, inspite of conducting various blood tests and popping medicines, changing doctors and switching from allopathy to homeopathy to ayurveda, we still remain unhealthy. There is no respite from illnesses.
We have to think about our core issue existing in our mind – we have to work on your feelings. We should make a conscious effort to control and understand our feelings. Awareness about our feelings is crucial.
